DP is a finicky little b!tch.
Why do I have so many audio system problems with ASIO when literally NONE of the other programs I use have any problem? Switch from one device to another? DP crashes. Save and close a project? 50/50 chance that DP crashes.... While closing!?!?
Why is DP such a little b!tch about VST? Load new plug-ins? Reaper has no problems. DP tells me that the plug-in has a "serious" problem. What is the f'n problem when 3 other programs open the new plug-in just fine?
Why do I have to choose VST2 or VST3 in the plug-in preferences? When it finally passes and enables I'm given the choice of VST2 or VST3 in the effects chooser anyway.
It's so infuriating when other programs handle these things with zero hassle. DP has been my DAW of choice for over 15 years but
Lenovo Yoga i7, 16RAM, DP 10.11, Waves analog modeled plug-ins, AmpliTube, Shreddage 3 Jupiter, Mackie HR824 Mk1, Tobii Eye gaze mini.

I wonder what a specific BIG gripe would read like...

I know what you mean. I use DP every day on Windows and it does seem more 'brittle' than I am used to. I don't have the loading/saving problem but lock ups do seem more prevalent than say using Samplitude. But then Samplitude is Win only and I guess the developers have a much smaller target to support.
What interfaces do you use? I'm on the the 112D

I did everything possible to get the Waves Abbey Road TG mastering plug-in to work. No success. Then, two days later, it just appeared. The VST3 version still doesn't pass though. Works fine in other DAWs.
I have an M2 in my mixing room and it is considerably more stable. But I don't always work in there. I use my laptop's speakers often or a Fiio K3 when using in-ears. That's when it gets finiky.

Not sure what you mean by "device"? Crash on quit is a weird bug, I had that on v9, it doesn't do anything, it's just annoying.

So all examination processes are looking for discrepancies between what the code is supposed to behave like and what it behaves like, because R***** doesn't care doesn't mean they don't exist. It's still possible to load a failed plug in, in the plug ins Preferences.

I'm on OS X, but is it really different for Windows? Here I can load both VST2 and VST3 in DP10, I could load AU as well. IMO anyway, after looking at and dealing with VST 3 in DP10 I really only use the VST 3 version of Amplitube, since it's real time, and it's stable, but a lot of VST3 are simply not as stable as the VST2 version on OS X in general, and I would guess that's a DAW thing, not OS, as in Cubase is stable with VST3 and the rest of us are dealign with some weird stuff sometimes.
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

I am also experiencing consistent crashing on quit (Mac) as well. There are worse bugs, but annoying for sure. I had thought a recent Catalina update was the culprit, but perhaps not...

You aren't using Finale. That user board has many threads with the same complaint. Also the same, NONE of my other...
I had thought a recent Catalina update was the culprit...
DP 10.11 is running fine on my Catalina laptop.
The recent security updates have been problematic when old code rears its ugly head. If there are crash reports, you can have Apple take a look. Last year, I had issues with High Sierra security updates but Mojave was fine. This year, HS was unaffected. Many threads on MacRumors, each believing that theirs is the only system affected.
The March Security Update didn't affect my Catalina or High sierra machines but it did affect my Mojave machine big time. It took a support few calls but Apple Engineering finally figured out that .kxt files in an old PACE library, NI GuitarRig 2 and Soundflower 2.02 were the culprits. In all cases, they were in wrappers and not obvious in the crash reports. The PACE .kxt was an old one that added OS 10.6/10.7 functionality. The NI kxt was leftover from an ancient version of Finale before they went to the Aria player years ago.
BTW, I made the first call only—Apple called me back with regular updates and suggestions till we got it nailed.
