APPLY Autotune (destructive)

Sorry in advance for this: I do not have access to either DP or AT, but a client has asked me to help. He has previously used AutoTune in DP and, when desired, clicked the Apply button at the bottom of the plug-in window to destructively apply the effect. He now finds that there is no Apply button. He is using DP 9.5x and AutoTune 7

Thanks

AutoTune is not supported in DP. In fact, Antares goes out of their way to state this and recommend that a DP user take advantage of the 30 day eval period but once purchased, DP users are on their own.

Much of AT does work in DP but for full functionality and support, use it in Logic. Since there's no stand-alone version of Autotune, I do exactly that—use Logic as a client for AT, save the results and import the processed track into DP.

So, your client is on a Mac. We know this since AT is VST3 for Windows which means it has never worked in DP-Win before version 10.

All is not lost if your client's Mac is backed up hourly via Time Machine. Have the folder where the audio file is (or folder where it used to be if that is now empty) open. Enter Time Machine. Roll back to a period before this occurred. Click on the file and Restore. It will paste a copy into the current version of the folder. You'll have the option of replacing the newer version or keeping both. Make your selection and you're done.

If it wasn't backed up after the file was created but before it was modified, your client is out of luck.

Hey Mike,

Just an update about Auto-Tune in DP.
Auto-Tune Pro is working fine in DP 10.11.
In fact, you can go to Antares and look at the Host (DAW) Compatibility page.
At the very bottom, it says...
Digital Performer - 10 or later (AU)
I just didn't want DP to get another bad rap.
We may be at the bottom of the page, but at least we are supported by Antares.

This is no help to the original poster on DP9.5 and AT7.

Just want to let DP10 folks know that they can use AT Pro. :D

I appreciate all of this help. Turns out, my client is stuck using his home computer (stay at home orders) where he is only on DP7! His claim is that he used to be able to Apply AutoTune and is now only able to use it as a realtime plugin kind of thing. There is no Apply button. Is it possible that he is going about this wrong? Do plug-ins selected as inserts on the mixer have an Apply button? Maybe he should be selecting a region in an edit window and selecting a plug-in from a menu?

Again, I appreciate your time.

You got it!
There is no "Apply" button on the plugin when used as an insert.
He should select the whole audio track or the specific section he wants to tune, in the "Sequence Editor" window.
Then under the "Audio" menu, pick "Apply Plug-In".
Choose Auto-Tune from the list.
This will bring up an Auto-Tune window where he can hit the "Preview" button, listen and tweak the settings.
When he is happy with the result, he can hit the "Apply" button and the change will be applied to the track.
The alteration is not destructive, in that he can later cut the tuned section and drag back the original audio.

Hope this helps.
