CPU hit on DP10

Post by akr »

I upgraded to 10 on my mac pro 3.1, at the same moment I upgraded RAM from 16 gb (original 800mhz) to 32 gb (samsung 667mhz), at the same moment i buy Izotope Nectar 3 and Neutron2

@my first project on DP10 some problems o CPU
project in 24 bit 48.000
only 20 mono tracks, routed to 20 physical output to my 24IO
just few plugins: 2 instances of neutron, 1 instances of nectar, 2 instances of waves j37, 3 instances instances of 1176 from UAD 2,

CPU performance @ 1/3 ??????
and video respond so slowly on vu mixer vu meter

DP 10 is to heavy for my mac?
or maybe the new RAM @ 667 mhz?

why a so deep CPU usage?
DP11.31 macPro 5.1 (2012), 4x 8coreXntel Xeon 5690, RAM 128 Gb, UAD 2, Waves 11 Diamond, Izotope Nectar3 & Neutron2, ozone 9 and more....

Sounds like a job for the Studio>Effect Performance Window.

Thx

I will take a look.
Even if it’s strange cause with just some plugs…
It is better to turn all plugs in pre gen mode?

I take a look on effect performance
in fact nectar take a lot of resources.

but i cannot understand this poor performance
i dunno if is DP10 or rRAM

i tried to record 3 tracks
24 48000
@128 buffer size
with 20 tracks in play back with no plugin
...... real time performance on audio perfromance crash over 100

whatz wrong in my system?

Yup. It wasn't a fair comparison in the first place 'cause you added Nectar 3 and Neutron 2 when you added the RAM and upgraded to DP10.

A fair comparison would be to use whichever plugins you would've before you bought the iZotope ones and upgraded DP. I'd be interested to hear how that goes.

Mac 2012 12C Cheese Grater, OSX 10.13.6
MOTU DP8.07, MachFive 3.2.1, MIDI Express XT, 24I/O
