Digital Perfomer MIDI Issues

I am trying to use DP to control my light show for live performance. I am using a turtle Beach USB MIDI interface to send out note data to a windows laptop using DPRO and my interface is the Motu 2 channel interface. Both interfaces are being seen by the computers. I set up Turtlebeach in the Audio/MIDI window with a generic device. The DPRO program needs note info to change scenes. I inserted a MIDI track in DP and assigned the output to the device. The problem im having is that DP is sending out CC7 info and not any note data that i can see. I think it also sends the data out as soon as i hit the play button. Any idea how to send only note data?
Thanks
JE

Disabling "automation" should do it. SETUP menu, AUTOMATION submenu. Deselect ENABLE.

What else will this turn off?

It might be coming from your device. If there's no cc7 in the sequence DP doesn't send one out.
You're welcome.

What device are you referring to? I use mac book connected to turtlebeach MIDI then to the DMX program. It seems to happen when I hit the space bar.

I think the device referred to might be the device you used to input the MIDI notes. If you are just pencil tooling them in, then disregard that bit.
If DP is the source of the CC7, it is probably due to automation being on. Turning that off is a good first thing to check. I don't use external synths much these days, so I'm a bit rusty on this.
The other thing is to make sure you've got the right device and MIDI channel selected as the track output. And you can always look in the event list for the MIDI track itself to see if your MIDI notes are in there. Make sure the view filter is set up so you are seeing everything.
Report back with any progress from these bits of advice. We'll try to help.
I suppose if you are seeing CC7, that's good news that something is getting through. Does DPRO require a specific MIDI channel (transmit channel from DP and receive channel from DPRO)?

To get the note into DPRO, Ive been inserting the note into a MIDI track on DP. I loop a couple measures and hit the play / space bar, then while its looping i hit the learn button in DPRO. This works but I would rather not go thru all these steps. Plus i want to understand whats going on since this is used for live performance. I have found out the hard way that anything that can go wrong usually will eventually.
Thanks

I don't know anything about DPRO.
Does DPRO have a MIDI implementation chart or some kind of documentation about MIDI defaults? If so you can work out what channel and note #s it needs to do what it does.
If the workflow you describe is working, it sounds like the connection is there. Now it's just a matter of configuring on both ends to send/receive on the proper channels. And working out the chart of note#'s to DPRO functions. Did you get the CC7 to stop being transmitted?

I opened a new session and tried and it didnt transmit the cc7 info. What would cause that to be different per session?

It could be you accidentally enabled automation with a key-combination. Or something you did took a snapshot? (Hard to say).
Could be a glitch. Those happen, too.
