MIDI Keyboard not working with virtual instruments

Hello all,

As a beginner, I have a stupid question to ask and appreciate the help. My MIDI keyboard (Novation Launchkey 49) is not working whenever I try to play/record a virtual, instrument. When I open up MIDI monitor and press a key it does show activity on channel 1, but it will not work with my VI. When I launch the VI as a stand a lone, it works, but not in DP. In the past it has worked and I'm wondering if I changed some setting that is causing it to not respond. I just can't figure out what that may be.
All help is appreciated!

Thank you!

You do have both an Instrument track with the VI and a MIDI track enabled with the VI as the output and record enabled?

Yes, I do. When I record enable the track, I cannot playback on my MIDI keyboard. It does work if I try MIDI keys.

Check your controller output channel.

Try Preferences>MIDI Solo & Patch Thru>Auto Channelize.

And don’t fail to check the settings (if any) in your controller (MIDI channel modes and settings).

Hi all,

Thanks for your helpful words. I still have not been successful with getting my Novation Launchkey 49 to work in DP 9.52. I tried checking the output on the Novation, but that seems ok.

All the connections between the board and my computer work because I can operate plug ins as a stand a lone, but for some reason in DP it is not responding even though in MIDI monitor I can see activity when I press a key.

Would you have any more suggestions?

Thank you very much!

Is it being seen correctly in Audio/MIDI Setup (Apple app)? Is it appearing as in INPUT in DP at all?

Yes, I do see it in my MIDI studio in the Mac Audio MIDI setup. When I test that, it works with no problems.

Snoize MIDI Monitor can be a life saver in cases like this:

Thank you, I downloaded MIDI monitor and that is showing my keyboard is sending out data and working correctly.

I still can't understand why DP is not allowing me to control any MIDI data even though it is showing in the DP MIDI monitor that it's getting a signal when I press a key.

The novation launchkey 49 and DP were working a couple of weeks ago, but something has happened to cause this issue.

I sent my problem out to MOTU, but if any one has suggestions, I'd appreciate the help.

Thank you!

I also noticed that when I pencil in MIDI data, there is no audio. I hear the audio at playback, but not when I pencil it in. Not sure if this problem is related to my controller issue, but I wanted to mention it.

Hi all,

I found out the problem... it was the input filters not being checked.

Thanks again for your help!
