Ack! what happened to the "Core Audio: Wave" option?!

I installed DP10 beside DP8/9. I was using DP9 today and upon bouncing to disk, noticed all the "Core Audio" options (I use Core Audio: Wave), was gone! I'm concerned because I know Broadcast Wave is a little different and adds more to the header. If it's 100% compatible, I won't mind, but it's really concerning to see all the options disappear like that!

UPDATE: I tried it out in Finder, and at least it seems to play normally in other environments, so no big worry. Still weird.

Broadcast wav is not compatible with CD Baby. I ran into that just last night with one of my clients. He insisted on .bwav and was on the phone with me wondering what was wrong with my files... sheesh.

I had to strip and rewrite all the headers for four CDs worth of files (5 minutes in TwistedWave) and upload them to my Dropbox account so that CD Baby would accept them.

Not in front of my Mac. I’ll look at this in the morning.

Ugh, well, I'll keep that in mind. Thankfully I'm mostly using WAVs internally, they go right into FCPx, which seems to have no problem.

I'll writeup a report to MOTU though, this seems kind of invasive. I haven't even used DP10 yet, only installed it for testing. I'm keeping all of my important work in DP9 until things get sorted. Was not happy to see those menu items disappear immediately after installing DP10.

UPDATE: I noticed the Core Audio formats are available in DP10, but they've been stripped from BOTH DP8 and DP9.5.

UPDATE2: I created a MOTU Tech Link

Same here. :(

That's completely insane, on par with CD replicators not taking DDP files. No knowledgable operator running the ship, they don't even know they are wrong!

Ok, this is weird:

CORE Audio Export: WAVE (.wav) shows up twice in my output list for DP 10.

None of the Core Audio export types show up in DP 9.52 anymore.

Been lurking around the DP 10 comments since it came out. I appreciate everyone's feedback, but damn, I'm beginning to think DP 10 is not ready for prime time.

Dang! Had to look just now.

Core Audio Export: WAVE option is gone from my system, too, with 9.52.

I am also running the trial version of DP 10. Somethin' must have gotten overwritten, I'm assuming.

If someone finds a way to get it back, please post.

Thanks!

Shared resources are always overwritten with DP installs. I’ll do a bit of testing on my system and see what happens.

Weird that Core Audio WAVE is on my system when it isn’t on others’.

Just checked again with DP 10.

All Core Audio exports are available.

Ok...

After renaming 10 to Digital Performer 10.0, I reinstalled DP 9.52. My entire output list showed up in 9.52 and 10. I know that shared libraries are overwritten so I don't know what functionality is now missing in 10 after the older install.

Image

I then reinstalled DP 10. Now 9.52 does not show any of the CORE export options. 10 still shows the above list, however.

Image

My CORE Audio Export list has twelve options with WAVE being duplicated. How many do others show? If only a few, I may know why—if so, I may know a workaround.

Instead of Preview.app, I used the following to get the above screenshots:

Capture a selected portion of the screen

1. Press Shift-Command-4.

2. Drag to select the area of the screen to capture. To move the entire selection, press and hold Space bar while dragging.

3. After you release your mouse or trackpad button, find the screenshot as a .png file on your desktop.

this is a pretty important thing! Does MOTU know?

What is an important thing?

There are two different issues. If CORE Audio Export: WAVE is missing for some users, that is important. I would reinstall DP 10 and see if that fixes it.

I don’t think that the CORE export menu missing in DP 9 after a 10 install is important at all. If you don’t want to use 10, this is fixed by reinstalling 9 as I’ve shown. Same as having to reinstall 9.51 if you don’t like 9.52. Similar behavior regarding the shared resources goes back to DP 2.

The exact thing happened when DP went from DP6 to DP7.,,,and possibly 7 to 8.

As I recall there were prefs that needed to be set aside and swapped depending on which version of DP you want to have Quicktime Export capability. If that is what's happening the "QuickTime Export.bundle" and "Core Audio Export.bundle" installed with DP10 isn't compatible with DP9 and you'll either need to reinstall 9.52 to get those prefs or TimeMachine back and get them. They reside at Library > Audio > Plugins > MOTU Audio Export. ...I'll try this when I have a chance and report back, but it sure sounds like the same drill.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! This was exactly going to be my next question, is "where is this preference file". What I'll do is reinstall DP9.52, copy the Core Audio Export bundle, then eventually re-install DP10 when I decide to switch full time, but use the old DP9 Core Audio bundle, and see whether that works universally.

Good to know that reinstalling DP9.52 restores it. That's really all I need, I'm not planning on switching to DP10 permanently for a while.
