DP 7,24 and Mojave

A friend of mine uses DP 7.24. He's a great musician, but not much of a techie. He recently upgraded his OS to Mojave. He's not sure how that happened. Maybe he has auto update enabled. Anyway, he's now stuck in an endless loop of needing to re-authenticate DP whenever he tries to open it. Is this because this version isn't compatible with Mohave? If so, what's the easiest way to revert back to 10.12 or 10.13, whichever might be compatible?
Alternatively, he uses DP primarily for basic tracking, and takes all his stems to a studio that does the mixing/mastering and additional tracking. He uses a Microbook II, so Audiodesk would likely be adequate for his needs, but I've been unable to install AD 4 on his computer. Is it compatible with Mojave?
Thanks in advance for any advice or insights.

DP 7.24 is incompatible with APFS. The "endless loop" is with trying to generate the Auth File that 7.24 needs. It reads from the CD but hangs up from there.
I was able to get 7.24 working in High Sierra formatted HFS+. Changing an APFS drive back to HFS+ is not difficult but does require erasing the drive. To restore requires a backup that was done in the older OS. Not for the faint of heart. If running Mojave on an HFS+ formatted drive, I have no idea if 7.24 can be made to work and it would take me many hours to set up a test system so that I could find out—that's not going to happen. DP 7 is now ancient history for me.
Really, it's time for your friend to update DP to the current version.

Thanks, Mike, for the very informative response, as usual.
Do you (or anyone else) know if the latest version of Audiodesk is compatible with Mojave? At least for the short term, that would fulfill his needs.

Being free and unserialized, Audiodesk 4 won't have the verification issue that DP 7.24 has. Since it's 64bit, it should be Mojave compatible. MOTU doesn't have any announcements I can find saying it isn't. I can verify that It downloads and installs over High Sierra formatted APFS.

Audiodesk requires MOTU hardware and won't function if it can't find any.

Thanks. I tried installing it, and had no luck, but had no time to determine why. He has a Microbook II.

Friend of mine is still on Snow Leopard and DP 7.24. He just cloned over his drive to an SSD and of course DP wants to be authorized, but he can't find his DP7 CD. I'm wondering if any DP7 CD will work and I could just give him mine or they keycode is somehow linked to each individual disc? I suspect it's the latter. I suggested he call MOTU.

Any DP 7 CD will work—it does not have to be the version of DP you are installing. DP 7 will use it with the key code to generate the Auth File that is required.
Sometimes there can be a conflict with previously generated authorization files. In that case, one must make invisible files visible and trash them all, then hide them again.

Hope I can contribute ( still on DP 7.24, and 9.53 )
Just upgraded Macmini3,1 from Yosemite to Mojave ( with the help of DosDude's workarounds )
HFS+...
and DP 7.24 seems to work fine without plugs...
That may be another story...
My live rigs are on 10.9.5, but maybe need to be updatet to Mojave
because of Dante...
Best regards
Klaus

Again, APFS is the issue. HFS+ formatted System drives are able to let the Auth file be generated from the CD that DP 7.24 can read to verify the license.
