I've spent enough time on this to have composed a symphony, embarrased to say...
I own a BOSS JS - 5 (Jam Station)..It's basically a drum machine - 4 part rythym generator. One can mute one or all of each of the parts. They are drums, bass, then 2 different comp tracks. I'm amazed at the potential for fun and composition, as the default styles are pretty good, better than Band in a Box, etc...
Heres my question. MIDI signals are transmitted thru 2, 3, 4, and 10. 10 is Drums, the others bass, comp 1 and 2. These are the default MIDI routes. But if I want to record a song I've composed in the JS - 5, It will only play all tracks thru 1 channel, typically as a drum beat, or whatever I have Sonik Synth set to in that channel. This means I have to record each part individually, taking 4 times as long.
Is there a way for me to split the different MIDI signals into 4 different MIDI tracks, with different patches, and record them all simultaneously? Is there any gear that will alow me to do that? I know DP4 is capable of recording from multiple MIDI devices...If not., please inform ASAP so I can rest my compulsively inquisitive mind! I've tweaked out on all the DP4 lit, been through Audio MIDI setup a bunch of times, even synched the machine to slave to DP4. There has to be a way!
Thanks
Damien
