Nice article on DP’s features for guitarists by Craig Anderton for Sweetwater.

I am ashamed to admit I have hardly ever tried any of these plugins! Which seems just plain crazy! If you’re like me, maybe this will inspire you to do some exploring..

Great article; thanks for posting. I've often thought that since v8, DP blows away other DAWs when it comes to quality guitar processing.

And considering how many guitarists use looping pedals, you could easily include Polar in the DP guitar arsenal.

It also reminded me that there are a couple puremix video courses featuring Carlos "El Loco" Bedoya mixing songs in DP (using MOTU plugins about 90% of the time). I seem to remember him using Live Room G to create room ambience on some non-guitar tracks (Rhodes maybe?).

I am primarily a keyboard player, but was in a band for about 5 years (2011-2016) playing guitar and used DP as my pedal board quite effectively. I simply set up different channels with different effects, usually something pretty simple, and with a single track armed (never actually recording anything) I'd use the up/down track enable buttons to switch between them. I used a send on every track to the tuner so it was active at all times and visible. One track with delay, one with chorus, one with phaser, etc. most also with a compressor. Not overly complicated as far as processing goes, but I could then send the signal to a DI for FOH and either an amp for me on stage, or right to my in ear monitors.

Nice, freqsound. What sort of Buffer settings do you use and how is latency when using the plug-ins live?

I don't think I used more than 3 plug-ins on any single track, so the buffer was pretty low, either 64 or 128. This was on a 2010 15" MacBook Pro with (if I remember correctly) 4GB RAM and a spinning hard drive. Usually it was just one effect, a compressor (the Dyna-Comp looking one) and the tuner as a send.
