Soundflower and High Sierra

If you use Soundflower, you might have noticed High Sierra security doesn't like it much. I was using version 1.6.6b because it includes a 64 channel driver, useful to move multiple tracks between DP and MainStage, Logic, MixBus, 32 bit hosts, etc. Other versions were limited to 16 channels.

V 1.6.6b simply doesn't work in High Sierra, and probably not in Sierra, but I found that v 2.0b2 does, and the latest release will do 64 channels. You have to tell System Preferences to allow the Soundflower by accepting the author's name (mattingalls), and then restart and install again, but it does work. If you go to Rogue Amoeba for Soundflower, they will offer up Loopback for $99, but for basic inter app audio routing, including the ability to capture system audio, Soundflower for free does the job. Soundflowerbed doesn't work, but I could never figure out what it's for anyway.

Soundflower V 2.0b2 is at Github. https://github.com/mattingalls/Soundflo ... /tag/2.0b2

To make it work properly, I found it best to disable SIP so that I could remove 1.6.6b completely. I did that in El Cap.
