Finale 25 and Mojave

Post by Rick Cornish »

Early adopters, take notice:

Make Music says Finale 25 is NOT compatible with Mojave. They say Finale 26 will be Mojave compatible when it's introduced and—after that—they plan to put out an update to Finale 25 that will be Mojave compatible, as well.

2014.5 works exactly the same in HS as it does in Sierra but only if the OS is upgraded. Like 25.4 and earlier, it does not install correctly in OS 10.13.x.

Since all the reports of Mojave incompatibility come from the early beta versions, actual compatibility remains to be seen. No doubt the support board will be full of messages after Monday when 10.14 is released.

I don't yet have a Mojave compatible Mac (soon...)

We've seen some pretty bizarre stuff with our beta of Mojave, but luckily our release schedule has a few weeks more testing so we are hoping Monday's public build will fix some things, as that's the buzz our tester has seen when looking at some specific issues. I can't go into detail; the point is just that betas are betas for a reason, so don't panic prematurely.

Per MakeMusic, running Finale 25 over OS 10.14 Mojave is not a problem.

My guess is that 2014.5 will perform identically to the way it performs over Sierra and High Sierra but, till I have a Mac that runs on Mojave, I can't be certain.

Finale 25.5 appears to run well for me over Mojave — slow because I'm on an unsupported Mac.

2014.5 also runs. As far as I can tell, it has the same limitations as in Sierra/High Sierra: there's an issue with Expressions, Human Playback makes it crash and you can't resize the Tool palettes.

Finale 2014.5 cannot be installed over 10.13 or 10.14 — nor can any version before 25.4.1.
