Throttling in New MacBook Pro 2018

I thought there might be better performance on the new MBP... This gives me pause on upgrade...

Seems like they already updated the OS with a software fix that addresses this problem..

Yes, heat is an issue and always has been. Whether or not this affects real world performance remains to be seen. Articles that claim ‘the sky is falling because...’ are the staple of every hardware release.
Are users expected to do high powered video editing on a 6-core laptop?
I’m not a gamer but live in the heart of the Silicon Valley. Serious gamers I know use rigs far more powerful than these or any other laptop.
Nothing in that article or video translates to real world uses as far as I can see. Perhaps it is an issue. Time will tell. There was a market for covers that raised the bottom of G3 laptops to keep them from burning your lap. This is nothing new.

I've been using the 2017 MBP with touch strip for a year. I have had zero issues. I think it's plenty powerful for DP. I was hoping the new one would be a big step up but I think I'll just wait for another round and use this one. At some point if they do a new Mac Pro I will get that for video but it's not really needed for DP...
