DP8 virtual instrument track doubling notes

Hi, I'm working on a project using EWSQL Orchestra Gold as the virtual instrument for one of the tracks in multi track recording mode. Using a Yamaha Motif XF8 as a MIDI controller to record the virtual instrument but I'm getting a doubling of the sound from the virtual instrument and the default voice in the Yamaha sequencer track. I'm hearing both the solo violin from the VI and the default full concert grand from the Yamaha simultaneously.
The Yamaha keyboard MIDI Local Control is set to Off. The DP MIDI input track is set to the same channel as the keyboard. DP MIDI output is set to the VI's MIDI in channel 1.
I've tried different settings in the Studio menu and the MIDI Through options, but I can't figure out how to change MIDI through/echo setting to prevent the Yamaha from doubling the VI.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
