I am about to be the proud owner of an iMacPro (base config). A BFD for me. My 2008 MacPro 3,1 is being "retired." I'm a bit uncertain of the best way to proceed with transferring and setting up my new system as it has been a l-o-n-g time since I've done this and much has changed. Any "Best Practices" would be most appreciated, whether as a response of simply pointing me to existing sources.
•My current system consists of boot-samples-project-TM drives and I will duplicate that set up with new drives. First I plan to use a USB 3.0 drive and offload a large number of document files from my current 2 TB boot drive that are not music related or simply old (e.g. teaching materials, work, correspondence, etc.) to ensure I can fit everything on the internal 1 TB SSD.
•Is Migration Assistant the way to go for the boot drive - Apps, docs, everything? Way back when I had a lot of corruption problems with Migration. No need to do fresh reinstalls, I hope?
•I'll be moving from 10.11.6 to the latest OS and may have issues with that.
•I know I'll have to deAuth Sibelius (and Office) before making the switch, but are there other issues with authorizations of Waves, DP, NI, M5?
•What about Samples? Is it OK to simply copy the folders/files onto their new home and then point the App to their libraries, or should they be reinstalled fresh?
•I'm getting USB-C to USB 3 adaptors for my UltraLite MK4 and my ilok (I am sure I will realize I am missing a cable, and adaptor, a something once I begin. Oh well...).
As I said: any Best Practices would be GREATLY appreciated as I navigate to the promised land.
Thank you, and Pray For Me!

Joel
