DP4.6 + MOTU 828MK2 = PROBLEM (help !)

Hello everyone !
This one is really getting on my nerves
I use DP4.6 on OSX.3.9 (and OSX.4) with a motu 828MK2 and my keyboard is a XP30, Roland. All of that on a G5 dual 1,8 with a lot of RAM ;)

I've been on DP for about 8 years so I know it pretty well, and this configuration isn't new to me either...

I AM COMPLETELY UNABLE TO RECORD ANY MIDI data on any projetc (though I have all the lastest updates fort DP, the 828 etc...)
PLUS the 'MIDI in' led on the 828mk2 is always ON (orange !)
If I write some MIDI notes with my mouse, it won't play them after.
On the MIDI configuration, when I test my XP30 the music will play normally....

WHat can I do ???

MIDI problem

Hi again (with my beautiful soliloquy) :?
I've changed the MIDI part of the 828Mk2 with a microlite and the problem still prevails...

I have an 828mkII, but I don't use the MIDI functions since I have a MTP-AV. But what happens when you go to the Audio-MIDI OSX Setup and try the MIDI test function there? Also, do you have any other MIDI capable programs that you can run to determine whether it is a DP problem or a system wide problem?

well i've moved the MIDI wires from the 828mk2 to my micro lite.
It still isn't working.
No other standalonre program can work (MIDI in NO MIDI out YES)
The MIDI IN led for the first MIDI track (which i'm using) seems unusually red (as if it was overloeaded)
That's why I think the problem may come from y XP30 or some drivers...
When I try the MIDI test function, it does respond...

Still when I play a MIDI track from DP4.6, nothing happens... unless i move to the PATCH mode where I an play ONE MIDI track at th e time.. but in the MULTI mode nothing happens...

grrr...
I've initialized my XP30 but it still seems to be sending everlasting overwealming MIDI messages to the microlite xhixh can't seem to cope... But maybe my analysis is just wrong...

NEW
after trying different things with my xp30 (though it worked for 5 years with no problem) the audio/MIDI setup goes bibibibibibibibibibibibibip when I test the XP30. The microlite IN arrow is red...

I use almost the same setup as you have, without problems. I think the Roland is somehow producing data. Can you try recording MIDI on another device and check if the Roland receives OK?

Doesnt the Roland have a USB interface?

Good luck

So it sounds like you've tested MIDI with an alternate program and confirmed it wasn't DP that has the problem, so I'd try an external controller test next.

Do you have any other MIDI instruments you can use to test with? If so, disconnect the XP30, and try an alternate instrument. I agree with the post above that it sounds like your XP30 is sending out a bunch of MIDI data.

I can't say what the communication problem is, but it is normal for ALL Roland keyboards to send MIDI data continously. I believe this is "Active Sensing". This has been the case in every Roland I've every owned (and I've owned a few). It is possible that the 828II doesn't like that. I know my old MOTU flyer didn't. I can say that the M-Audio stuff doesn't seem to care.
