DP won't see new plug-in - RESOLVED

I just took advantage of Softube's freebie of Saturation Knob. It's duly installed in both /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components (as AU) and /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3 (as, oddly enough, VST), but DP won't see the AU version. I was expecting, on launching DP, to see the usual 'examining new plug-in' window, but no such thing appeared, and the AU plug-in doesn't show up in the list of plug-ins on offer, either in the Audio Plug-ins pane of Preferences or when instituting an instance in the mixer window. This means I can't even re-examine it. I've contacted Softube about this and they're baffled - but then the guy said he has 'very little experience in DP'.

One thing that occurred to me is that I'm aware that the ownership and permissions of the files in my /Library (not ~/Library) are messed up for some reason - and I'm seeking help elsewhere over this. However, I also have Softube's Tonelux Tilt, and the ownership and permissions for that and Saturation Knob are identical (as are the Access Control Lists - something I really don't understand at all, having never had to deal with them).

But the other strange thing that's happening is that when I launch DP by double-clicking the app, it's skipping the splash screen altogether and going straight to the Welcome window. If I double click a project, it shows the splash screen before opening the project's window(s). Is this normal behaviour?

You did restart the computer after installation? I've found that is becoming necessary for most plugins for most DAWs

More and more. I was surprised with that last week.

Hmmm... that's odd. I didn't have any problem with Saturation Knob, however, I couldn't figure out the installation process using Gobbler, so I downloaded the installer that appeared in "My Downloads" on the Softube site an hour or two after registering the plug. I also used the iLok manager software to install the license from Softube on my iLok prior to installing the plug.

As an interesting aside, I could not connect to the Softube website last night through my Cox Cable connection. Any other site was fine, but I got a DNS error and I had to reconfigure my Mac to use OpenDNS and it was fine. (I did this after giving up on a useless conversation with a completely clueless Cox tech support person.)

Well, you could knock me down with a feather! No, I hadn't restarted, having never needed to before when installing a new plug-in, but I have now and... bingo! Thar she blows!

Many thanks, guys!

Yes, it threw me a couple of months back when I bought a PSP plugin and it didn't appear in any DAWs. PSP support said to restart, and they've always said that, but until recently, I've never had to. I suspect this is a result of security changes in OS X.
