Movie not showing in Movie Track in SE

hi all - i don't do a lot with video, but i'm on a project now. in the past, the Movie Track in the SE has always shown frames from the movie, but in this project, none of the sequences are showing their attached clip in the SE. someone posted about this problem in 2012, but there were no answers...any ideas? thanks.
