How to align beats to an audio track?

How can I align beats to an audio track? I remember doing this before and it is fairly simple, you just click or drag to where you want the beat to go, but I cannot remember how to do it. I’ve looked through the manual and searched the Internet, and the tutorial videos here, but I cannot find what I want.
I want to keep the audio as is and align the beats to it. I don’t want to detect the beats, I want to manually line them up. I don’t want to try and clap along because it is not a straightforward track. There are many time changes and the click changes from eighths to quarters and back. It was actually originally recorded in DP 1.22 before there was a way to scale or draw tempos. I manually changed the tempo note by note in a rubato section.
I hope my explanation is clear and apologies for asking a basic question.
Thanks in advance.

Following, as I might need this (again) myself.
I've done it before but the answer eludes me right this minute.
In the meantime, you might search the forum for "align beats".
I remember a fairly lengthy thread on this very subject.

Hi Ed:
Haven’t done this in a while, but here is an article I wrote some years ago describing a technique. I don’t think the procedure has changed much for current DP.
Basically, I create a MIDI click track by tapping along, then use that track to align the beats and bars, working my way through the track from left to right in the timeline. The beat snapping feature helps make it go faster. The key is to get a good click track to begin with, which can take a little of fine tuning initially.
HTH.
Best,
Babz

Thank you Babz. Your article pointed me to the location I had forgotten.
Choose Project>Modify Conductor Track>Adjust Beats to bring up the Adjust Beats dialog window (see Fig. 1). Make sure that the “Drag beats in Graphic Editor” box is checked.
I hadn't used Adjust Beats for so long, I had forgotten where it was. I was looking in the Audio window and could only find Adjust Beat Sensitivity and Adjust Beat Detection. I knew there was a window I could drag beats in. I mentioned I didn't want to tap, because the metronome switches from very fast 8ths to quarter notes and back with changing meters all over the place. I think I should be able to get it from now.
Thank you very much.
