So far, so good. The usual bug fixes and incorporates the recent security updates for those who haven't run them yet.

iTunes adds HomePod compatibility. HomePod's release date is scheduled for tomorrow.

Logic 10.4 is an upgrade and adds interesting new features

That is a pretty interesting list of Logic updates. Undo for mixer actions, and improvements to tempo mapping for a start. A very long list of other stuff. You might think they've been tracking this forum for ideas!

Yea, looked awfully familiar. Perhaps Apple is trying to make Logic good? Could happen... The documentation is still a mess and refers to things that haven’t worked since OS 10.4.

Now if DP will copy one Logic feature: Add MusicXML Import. Please?!?!?

There's documentation? j/k. Yes, it follows the old IBM tradition of telling you all the great stuff you can do, but never getting around to telling you how to do it. Fortunately, there are load of videos out there.

Just to be clear, the Logic update can be run on Sierra on its own. I did that last night, but haven't opened Logic yet to see what's different in regular workflow vs. when investigating the menu system for new stuff. The Logic update includes a HUGE new addition to the Alchemy libraries.

Yes, the minimum requirement is OS 10.2. Here’s a quick overview:

Update on Logic: I've lost a few hours tonight trying to figure out why it freezes up during Audio Unit Validation, before the first plug-in has even been looked at.

What I am doing at the moment, is running every version of Vienna Ensemble (Pro, not-Pro, 32-bits, 64-bits, Server, not-Server), with all other apps shut down. Waste of time, but I'm stuck otherwise.

I suspect VE is at fault, sort of. Mostly because I had a similar issue with Cubase 9.0. Studio One 3 was OK, and of course as always, DP opened without even a hiccup and validated everything.

I was pleasantly surprised that nothing hung up. May be a first for me. I don’t have VE, however.

I went to Activity Monitor to kill the Roland Cloud, rebooted, killed it again, launched the new version of Logic, and it is slowly going through AU validation (it fails on more of them than any app though).

I won't have another update for a while, as Logic is so S-L-O-W. Its feedback mechanisms suck too, as you don't really have clean recovery choices if anything goes south during startup.

After a couple of dozen Force Quits when Logic got stuck and didn't respond, I got all the way through the Audio Unit validation process and was able to open a project.

The Softube plugs were the worst, and most numerous, offenders, and were all updated (a few dozen of them) within the last couple of weeks.

Not sure if those on High Sierra will have as much trouble, as vendors probably test that platform more than Sierra anymore.

The thing to keep in mind is that I own over 700 plug-ins from over 300 vendors. I seriously doubt anyone else on this forum has as much chance of things going wrong as I do.

It just occurred to me that I'd not checked for new libraries. Sure enough, in Logic's Sound Library Manager, there are a lot of libraries to be installed and updated—25G worth... like I'll ever use them... could happen, yes?

I heard good stuff about the new horns and strings that must make up a lot of the new 25G. At least it shows off the new articulation control features. I have DP and Logic template to use the Logic VIs in DP but note sure the articulation thing is going to work from DP,

The installer should force all applications to quit. If it dosn’t, you may need to do that manually. Force-quit if any are frozen and won’t shut down.
