This issue was previously related to Kontakt, and it was recommended that I update from Yosemite to El Cap, which I just did.

Now DP 8.07 crashes on every launch. Tried trashing DP prefs, tried reinstalling DP. I tried launching in safe mode with all plugins disabled. Same crash. No MOTU crash report, only an Apple crash report. I can post that here if that would be helpful. I need to learn to read a crash report.

Any suggestions?

Weirdly, after trying maybe a dozen times it crashed every time.

My wife was standing nearby and I thought I'd show her "my life". But DP launched without an issue.

El Cap feels much faster.

Look at Consol.app for something trying to load but failing. If it’s the Mackie HUI plugins, reinstall DP again.

Ok, that one successful launch was a fluke. Back at it today, no luck

I checked the console, and saw Dune2 and Z3ta mentioned. I removed them from the components folder, but that didn't help.

I removed Automap software, but that didn't have any affect.

I did create an external boot volume with DP, FF800 driver, Steermouse, and PianoTeq.

At least with that minimal boot volume, I can still get work done. Would like to solve this.

Thanks for the console advice, Mike. But I'm afraid I don't know enough about how to read it to make it useful.

Is the crash report not there?

Yes. The OS generates a crash report (not DP's crash reporter).

I don't know if it is safe to post a crash report, since it has some system info.

I'll see what MOTU support has to say about it.

DP8 is not compatible with OS 10.11 or later. You need to upgrade to DP9 to run on the new OS.

At first, it was a Kontakt problem, and MOTU support contacted NI and found that it was a known Kontakt problem. I was either required to update to OS 10.11 or downgrade Kontakt in order to fix the problem.

MOTU's support person didn't think to tell me that updating to 10.11 would render DP8 incompatible. (An honest mistake). But now I've updated to 10.11, and I have no earthly idea how to downgrade back to 10.10. My time machine is not working correctly (starting today).
