Can I route MIDI from a VSTfx on Mac?

Hi,
I am new to DP, Mac and this forum,
thought I'd shoot you a line with my query.
I want to route 6 audio ins (3-8 on my interface) to Reaktor6fx AU.
I can bus them all, but they go to inputs 1 & 2 on the AU,
and are summed.
I'd like to keep the ins unsummed and individual,
coming into inputs 3-8 on Reaktor fx.
Does DP do this?
My application is hex guitar to MIDI.
Thanks and enjoy the music, Nick

edits- I have done this now,
but I have a new query- please see post #4

DP should be able to do this.

If you want to be able to mix into Reaktor, create a 5.1 bus in the bundles window, and use that as the input to your aux track (or audio track-whatever you've inserted reaktor on), and then route everything via mono busses to keep channels separate.

If you just want to go straight from your interface into reaktor, you can create a 5.1 input bundle and just use that.

I don't have enough inputs to test this out for you. But it should work.

Thanks a bundle,
I have surround input in DP now.

It appears that Reaktor6 is the issue now.
I can't load it as an insert on 5.1 on a Surround Audio Track,
in either it's VST or AU form.

I much appreciate the help

Alright-
I have learnt a little about DP and Reaktor and AU.
AU has max 2 audio inputs,
so I loaded the ReaktorVSTfx in DDMF MetaPlugin,
where it shows 16 inputs.
It will not load directly in DP,
as these plugs that do are flagged 5.1 somehow.
It loads and runs OK in MetaPlug,
but now I don't know how to route MIDI note OI into an instance of MX4 MOTU vi.

So, my updated question is-
can MIDI be routed from an effect to a virtual instrument?

Cheers!

I may not be understanding what you want to do, but to answer your last question - can MIDI be routed from an effect to a virtual instrument?, the answer is yes!

Check out MIDI Device Groups, page 128 of the DP9.5 User Guide in the Help menu.

The linked image shows Reaktor 6 MFX inserted in an audio track. The inserted Reaktor plugin appears in the MIDI Device Group window which is initially accessed from the Studio Menu. While there, make Multi Record active as well.

I hope this in some way leads to resolution of your question.

The link provides some information and a demo video for those like myself who didn't know that Metaplugin existed.

Metaplugin looks good at first, but other than wrapping, can it do anything you can't do with the appropriate use of busses and aux channels?

While considering the routing, it did occur to me that maybe what the OP needs could be accomplished with MIDI Device Groups and busses/aux channels.

Having said that, Metaplugin is a likely future acquisition.
