SSD issue

I bought a new 2GB SSD supposedly comparable with the latest OS X but it will not upgrade to latest version os x. Window comes up and says drive the issue yet it runs fine, just not in Serra. Would a reformat work?

You need to do that if you intend to boot a Mac from it. If planning to use as an external drive, it's a very good idea and may cause problems if you don't.
If you are running Sierra, boot into the Repair Partition and run Disk Utility from there.

Hi Mike yes, I am running latest versionOS X pre sierra. Just want to try Sierra going.
