DP MIDI recording half step up?(solved)

this is weird...
Have an issue with DP recording MIDI a half step up, than what I played.
e.g. say I record a simple melody line, DP will record ( and playback) a half step up . example:Played C turns into C#/Db in MIDI graphic editor , and is represented in the VI's virtual MIDI keys.
Appears to happen w/ VI's : Kontakt 5 x, Sampletank 3, but not on a drum VI: Superior drummer, ez drummer.
Using a M Audio Axiom 49 via USB.
Checked for any transpose MIDI plugs, MIDI patch thru options, and the VI's pref's
Anything else to check?

This would be the point where I would have to check my sanity, that such a strange and frustrating thing didn't cause me to lose it!
Sorry, no suggestions beyond what you've done already. Why would sample player VST's be the oddballs?

I would use a MIDI monitor to make sure your data is what you think it should be. Is there a master tuning on your controller?

This has happened to me when I accidentally set my M-Audio keyboard controller to transpose. In other words, I play a C, it transmits a Db and DP, of course, records the Db.
And you may not have noticed that in Superior Drummer as some of the mapping is so similar. B0 and C1 both trigger a kick, for instance.
Worth a shot!

It is SO annoying when little things like this prevent one from making music and working. Total inspiration and workflow killers...
I'd try killing DP's preferences. Perhaps they got corrupted?
If it doesn't make a difference, simply return there whatever you moved or deleted (you can let the Finder replace them safely).
I never remember which file exactly it is, but I'dstart with the plist and the Preferences one inside the com.motu folder in your user Preferences (leave the AU and VST scan files if you don't want DP to take ages to scan them again).
If this doesn't work, you'll soon become very fluent in Db, F# and Ab keys. Kind of like sight-transposing. What's wrong with that?

This seems the most likely.
Try installing and using a program like this:
https://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/ It will allow you to see exactly what information that your controller is sending, so that you can confirm if it's a hardware issue or not.
If the hardware is sending out the correct messages, then we have some major sleuthing to do!

Are you always getting the transpose, even during recording/patch-thru? If so, you could just transpose your keyboard down a half-step and see if that fixes (or at least works-around it).
I'd suspect that a transpose setting on the keyboard is causing it, if you are seeing the correct notes in your track, then it might be a pitch-wheel problem. Sometimes an errant bit of pitch wheel data (and event chasing can cause such things.

thanks for the ideas to check.
I do have midimonitor, forgot about that
I'll check out the other ideas when I get back to my rig.

alrigthy then ...
midimonitor confirms 1/2 step transpose getting output from the Axiom. Went to range zone edit and cleared that up. Must of fudged it when learning to assign stuff for MainStage

oh, I do know about the multiple kick drum notes

It would be helpful if you would go to your original post and edit it. In the title section add [SOLVED].
Thanks.
