Ultralite mk3 and AVB on same computer?

Has anybody tried an mk3 and an AVB device on the same computer?

When I say "mk3" I really mean anything that uses the older non-AVB drivers.

I just ordered an Ultralite AVB and want to see if I prefer it over my Ultralite MK3, but I don't know if the drivers support both at the same time and/or if there is some other kind of hardware conflict I might expect.

Anybody try this?

BTW: at this point I'm really looking for driver stability -- which may be premature for the AVB -- but I have the following issues with the mk3:
  • Playback becomes distorted -- a logout and login corrects it. This often will be hours into using the mk3 as simply a fancy sound card.
  • Windows does not recognize it on power up (sometimes), so turn it off an on and it works.
I'm also hoping that somehow the AVB drivers will support my Intel chipset with USB 3.1 -- I basically had to disable all of that to get the mk3 to work reliably. That may be a pipe dream, though.

Thanks in advance,

OK, how about a simpler question: anybody know if both the "classic" drivers and the AVB drivers can be installed on the same machine at the same time?

Thanks!

This question deserves a call to the MOTU tech support line!

(617) 576-3066 till 6PM EST I believe.

If it works at all similarly to my daisy-chaining of the Ultralite mk3 hybrid and the 828 mk3 hybrid, they have to be hooked up via FireWire. USB did not work there.

don't know about avb and mkiii, but mkiii fw and pcie (2408) work fine together.

as for crackling after a few hours, turn off wavert in the control panel.

Thanks for the responses.

I did install the AVB drivers along side the MK3 and it did work; I had no intention of actually running them both at the same time, but the AVB has been working perfectly. I am running the beta drivers for the AVB and have had neither of the problems I listed that I had with the mk3; that said, I haven't really exercised it much.

The AVB routing is extremely flexible though -- pretty incredible.
