Question on time and velocity

Hey guys,
Ive recently scored a short film. Ive set markers and set a different tempo for each part between the markers.
On onrone point I realized, that the whole track was on one point really fast and then slowed down. I thought i made a mistake, because at that point I was indeed messing around with measures and tempomapping. As I tried to solve the problem I found out, that this problem wasnt produced in the comductor track. In fact the tempo was printed in the MIDI events, so my MIDI performance was totally screwed up.

Has anybody an idea why this might have happend? I must have done some kind of keycommamd or something, I just cant figure it out.
ThisThis caused me huge trouble, as I had to redo the whole part.

Second question: How do you change Velocitiy of MIDI notes? I select a note an simpy tipe in a new Velocitiy in the top left.
I find it rather fiddly to select Velocities and drag them up or down because theres both note on and off information shown and both are so super tiny.

Thanks for your help!

Tempo is time and time is tempo. You cannot change a tempo map and leave the tempo of a MIDI performance unchanged. You can lock markets. You can render MIDI to audio and fix it in "it's" time and even lick that to a set time. But MIDI is essentially realtime and will change with ANY tempo alteration.

Or am I not understanding the question? As far as velocity, that's fully covered in the manual.

If you are trying to micro edit velocities note by note, there is no simple answer. The list editor is probably the best place. To edit velocities in a more "musical" fashion, look at the various shaping tools, or use the Velocity command.

If you select the note in the piano roll first, it's easier to grab the velocity level. Also once selected there are lots of ways to edit it via region editing.

Yep, and that was exactly what I did. But suddenly the tempo of the MIDI notes was changed. The notes themselves had been moved and I didnt to that intentionally. So I asked myself what the heck I did, to "imprint" the time to the notes.

Lets say the conductor track was set to 80 bpm and I had a simple 16th ostinato.
I do my work and as I play back the sequence I realize, that the ostinato plays on 120bpm for one measure and then slows down to 80bpm for another measure. The conductor track was still set to 80bpm. In the MIDI editor though the notes changed from 16th to something faster for the first two measure of the phrase.

I hope that clears up my point. Sorry if my words are confusing, Im not a native english speaker on the one hand and on the other Im relatively new to DP, so I might use other DAW terms.

@Velocity: thx for the tips, I will take another look at the manual :)

My bad typo [fixed]. You CANNOT change the map and leave the MIDI timing unchanged AFAIK. The tempo map IS the tempo.

True, misread that part myself. Anyway, what happened here:
Lets say the conductor track was set to 80 bpm and I had a simple 16th ostinato.

?

If the conductor track is active, it rules. If the tempo slider is active., it rules. Other than that, only if you're set to external sync can the tempo be regulated otherwise.

If it's one sequence only, then you may have inadvertently hit a MIDI processing command. If it's all sequences, you may have a clocking problem.

I guess it was a MIDI processing thingy. Although I dont have a freakin clue what it was.
Thanks for help!

Check your commands window and the region commands to see if you might have hit a process. Beyond that I got nothin'
