using 2x 828x's together

Is anyone using 2 of the 828x’s via thunderbolt together on one computer?

I’m having a big issue making it work with my MAC Pro 6,1. I have three identical systems and all three have the same issue. If I boot the computer with both interfaces connected via thunderbolt to separate ports (not chaining), the computer becomes sluggish and unresponsive. If I boot with only one interface turned on everything is fine. I’m on the most current firmware and drivers running osx10.9.5.

Sometime I can get it to open DP very slowly and it hangs for a long time and I get a message that says an unknown error occurred while loading MIDI drivers, then it hangs indefinitely.

I’ve called motu directly and they said it works for them with the same computer. But they could not duplicate it exactly and had newer unreleased firmware. This issue of mine is consistent across 3 identical setups in 3 different studios. Everything works fine if I boot the system with the second 828x turned off and turn it back on after the boot up.

Any ideas?

No answer for you, but you didn't mention word sync. If you can startup with only one on and then turn on the second with no problems, then it sounds to me like starting with both of them on causes ambiguity about who is "in charge".

I'm assuming you know a lot more about systems than I do, but it's an easy check.

Let us know how you're doing.

Please. It's certain that the answer is out there but, without knowing everything you have going on, it's difficult to figure out the correct question.

Tw things. DP has an activity monitor. Open it so you can see if anything strange is going on, especially any Access Denied errors. The other is Console. Again, open a screen before you try to connect. You are looking for processes that are denied or that are trying to connect.
