GarageBand to AudioDesk for Windows?

Post by mike »

Forgive me if this has been covered, but I'm new to this and still trying get through the learning curve. I've recently purchased a Microbook II and installed AudioDesk 4.01.64520 on my Windows 7 32 bit PC. Is it possible to Import a GarageBand song into AD, including SmartDrums and synthesizer sounds? If so, how would one do this? Thanks!

Same as a Mac. Export the audio files from GB into a folder. Load those audio files into AudioDesk.

It should work fine.

Got it, thanks! But only audio files right? No MIDI data? For example, if I wanted to use drum sounds from a plug-in instead of the GB SmartDrum sounds?

Interesting. It's nice to see that, where there's a will... Certainly less expensive but more time consuming than the other way.

One of the reasons that I spent the two bills for Logic Pro X is so that I can open a GarageBand file and export all the audio and MIDI data in one easy step.

But back to the OP. AudioDesk does not have MIDI functionality. For that, you need to upgrade to Digital Performer -- contact MOTU or your favorite retailer for pricing. In 199whatever, Sweetwater handled it for me.

If you upgrade to DP 8 now, you get DP 9 at no additional charge when it ships, even if you go through an authorized reseller.
