Hard Drive needed for PM 8600/250

Hello,

I've decided to turn my old 8600 into a dedicated ReBirth machine. It's just sitting there with an old PCI 324 card doing nothing so I figured, why not? After messing around with it for a while I've found one of the internal drives (I have two) is flaking out. I'd like to just replace it, but finding one that is compatible out of the box has been challenging. Anyone got any ideas of where to find one?

OWC has all sorts of goodies for upgrading older Macs. I would think they would have a hard drive that would work. Here's a link:http://otherworldcomputing.com/

If you have a used PC/MAC shop where you live they are a good source of updating/replacing MAC stuff. My Mac tech guy tells me that most drives can work in both PC and Macs albeit APPLE will never tell you that.

OWC is a really good place if you know how to work inside a Mac.

In fact you can get OWC XPOSTfacto and install OS X on your "legacy" Mac.

I've got an 8500 and 9500 both with Sonnet PCI cards running PANTHER.

The latest version of XPOSTfacto is such a breeze to use. It took me less then a couple of hours to install PANTHER on both of my machines.

You pay for the shareware after you've installed OS X if you want or need help at their special shareware forum.

I keep both machines active in OS 9 and X. Both also have Firewire and USB PCI cards plus the ability to use SCSI gear and all my old MIDI interface boxes.
