Notes doubled on MIDI recording

Hey Guys,

today I realized that suddenly recorded MIDI through my MP5 gets doubled with a slight delay on it. I cant tell why this suddenly happened.

However Im new to DP, was my first session, so I tried some shortcuts. Might be the reason for it.

Can anybody help me, please?

I just put in something via the MIDI Keys, that works fine.
I also deleted my input device and created a new one. Still double notes on the input.
I restarted DP and created a new project, same behavior.

Are the recorded notes doubled, or just the notes played back?

Can you have a loop going on?

The recorded notes are doubled.

If you mean memory cycle, yes I can do that.

If I enter notes via step record there seems to be just one note per key stroke.

I restarted the computer, still double notes on MIDI recording.

Edit: lol, just deleted the MIDI device and I can still record MIDI through my MP5. What the hell is going on???

Edit 2: Its definately a problem within DP, I tried the same in Studio One, works fine. Man this is exhausting...

I'd probably hit the MIDI monitor, and see if I can see how the notes are still getting in.

Jep,

I was going for that. It lights up everytime I touch my keyboard. I cant see that anything else is sneaking around putting in notes...

After hours of :banghead:
I finally got a workaround. Im not quite sure if this can be called a solution.

I simply enabled Multi Record. Thats it.
I can record from different channels of my interface and get what I want, one note per keystroke.
Disable Multi Record causes double recording again.

However, as the default Multi Recording setup works perfectly fine for me Im satisfied for now.

All in all not the best start with a new DAW, although I have to say I already learnt alot because of this problem. Unfortunately lost half a day with it...

Do you have local control turned off? Sounds like a MIDI loop -- everything getting echoed somewhere in the signal flow.

Try MIDI Monitor and see if it is showing double notes. That will get a start on islolating what is being repeated and where.

Local control isnt an issue, as I dont have any Instrument Tracks created, I tried to solve the problem with just one MIDI Track to minimize the odds.

As I stayed above MIDI Monitor didnt help. Nothing unusual to see there. The note repititions were quite close, closer than 32-Notes.

Local control IN YOUR KEYBOARD might need to be turned off. It has nothing to do with instrument tracks.

Is your keyboard on a layered sound that might be sending on two MIDI channels at the same time? That would account for two notes bring recorded in the standard mode but only one note in Multi-record mode (where DP will only "listen" to one incoming channel.

This is proof the issue is caused by your controller sending on multiple channels simultaneously.

Nope it isnt.

Right now my input is set to ALL MIDI channels of my audio interface. In addition I didnt touch my keyboard settings. As I wrote above I also tried to record MIDI in Studio One and had no problems. If it was a keyboard problem the same problem would have had to occure in Studio One. As it didnt my keyboard settings are fine.
