Hello,
Does anyone have experience working with a Mac Mini with MOTU/DP? and find that it works fine?
I am moving up to MAC from PC based due to the work I have done in both studios ( up to 48 tracks or takes)is all in MOTU and I want to be able to listen back and edit/clean up the tracks after receiving the songs on CD and inputing into my computer, thus allowing me to edit and decide on tracks and takes so I can get all that decisionmaking done before I go back to the studio with a new edited version/premix and then do a full blown mix. I also want to be able to have tried out different effects and compare mixes at home first. Any suggestions since I want to do this as inexpensively as possible and not have a bunch of technical problems right from the get go. From what it seems the MAC mini is not the ideal but would work just fine. Also, if you know, would I need to get a separate sound card and Mic input and if so does anyone have suggestions in that regard and other related info for someone just getting into this from using a BOSS BR864 and no real music software experience. Thanks very much.

I've heard/read that the disk speed is not 7200 rpm which makes the audio playback STUTTTTEEEERRRR.SBTucson wrote:Hello,

I've also heard that changing the stock/apple installed drives is easy for a mac tech guy but then you've got a drive that's useless for audio work and now paid for a faster drive.
Those mini macs are not worth the money because to upgrade them for audio recording is just a waste of money. The RAM is too small and the Drive is too slow. You could buy your self an iMac G5 for the amount you would have to spend on upgrading the mini mac.

Just saw an article today where someone is making an adaptor to allow the mini to run larger 3.5" 7200rpm drive in an external case on the IDE bus.
