Traktion Deal with Melodyne Essentials?

Traktion 5 is now available bundled with Melodyne Essentials for $59 (Sep 2014). Don't know when that deal expires.

I have no idea if Traktion is worth that. Seems like it is a good deal for getting Melodyne, but I can't tell how it would work -- i.e., would you be forced to use Traktion to use it?

Also, I was a little put off because the Traktion site gave hints that this would be polyphonic in their blurb, but Melodyne Essentials most surely does not include DNA.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thx

Melodyne Essential is at Sweetwater for $69. Maybe you'd find it for less in other places. I can't see that anyone with DP would have any use for Traktion.

That's what I suspected. Thanks.

I could see how Melodyne's DNA could come in handy once in a blue moon to fix a high dollar problem. But I'm fine with the tools I have.

I would recommend Traktion to anyone who has no recording experience and/or no computer experience as it is very direct, intuitive, and focused exclusively on traditional recording tasks.

I didn't read the announcement when I received it earlier today because I got confused and thought it was about NI's Traktor, which is a DJ product that I have no use for.

This is actually a VERY good deal for anyone starting out with computer recording and with little background in one or the other, as Traktion is not at all intimidating but is far more useful than Garage Band or any of the other loop-oriented beginner programs that are distinctly NOT oriented towards traditional audio recording.
