Audio MIDI Setup on Mavericks

Appears to not work at all.

I've moved computers - ran the migration assistant from the old one, then upgraded to Mavericks. I found some devices missing in DP so I launched Audio MIDI Setup and it displays most devices - although it shows new duplicate instances of some devices online and the original instances offline. And of course all the connections go to the offline devices, not the online evil twins. For instance my 828 MKII appears offline but connected to my controller keyboard - but there is a nice new 828 MKII #2 that appears to be online. Also, icons do not drag, nor can I drag any wires.

Is this a known Mavericks issue with this program?

I've had the problem of the duplicating 828s for a long time. That was supposedly fixed in a driver update, but I still see it happening. Otherwise, AudioMIDI does what I expect on Mavericks.

Doh, I haven't installed any MOTU drivers - might be it...

AMS under Mavericks just seems to "work". I can't figure it out though as it's so heavily automated and so little seems to be customizable compared to before. I've learned to just trust it and take it for granted. It seems the only thing you can do with it manually is to force a sample rate when some program is asserting the wrong one, or add a new hardware device when you add one to your collection (synth, keyboard, controller, audio interface, etc.).
