Distortion Issue with Copying Audio from Video to Sequence

Hi there.
Working on a new project and having issues with Copy Audio to Sequence. The audio is distorting by slowing down just slightly.
I am working on a film and had the editor split the audio mix with dialog/efx on left and temp music on right. Normally I open the video, set the start time in the Chunks window, and then copy audio to sequence so I can pan the temp music out but still keep it for reference.
The project has multiple sequences and was opened at 48K 24bit. I am noticing that when the movie plays, the sample rate grays out.
Is there possibly another way to copy the audio from the video aside from the menu on the top right corner of the Movie? Please, open to suggestions. TIA.
Using DP 6.3, mac os 10.7.5.
