Maybe someone can help me out. I'm extremely excited about the 16A. I've been putting a new Mac Pro on hold due to not being able to use my 2 BLA mod'ed 2408MK's and my 8Pre with Thunderbolt.

So when I'm reading the specs of the new 16A, I'm thinking perfect, I can still use my 8pre through one of the ADAT ins. I had figured I'd sell my 2 BLA mod'ed 2408 MK3's/and PCie and perhaps keep the BLA Micro Clock 2. Then this morning I was wondering if I could keep one of the 2408's and use it in converter mode and bring I/0 another 8 through the second ADAT connections.

Does this seem possible?

-MOTU 2408 MK3 8 I/O through ADAT to 16A

-8 Pre 8 out through ADAT 2 to 16A

-MOTU 16A accepting 16 Ins and 8 outs through ADAT 1 and 2, and then 16 I/O from the unit itself.

-clocking all 3 with BLA Micro clock MK2

This way I'll only have to sell 1 BLA mod'ed 2408mk3/PCIe which I'll never get anywhere near the $ I spent to have it upgraded anyway. Just making sure I can use a 2408 through ADAT.

Yes. Except for the fact the 8Pre doesn't offer a clock in port.

If the 16A is clocked from your BLA, one of its ADAT Outs could be connected to the 8pre to synchronize it, I believe.

The other issue is, with the setup you're talking about using up both optical inputs, you won't be able to record at 88.2/96 kHz.

I looked at the unit on MOTU,S website and I saw 4 optical ins and outs. You do not have these? They are the ADAT connectors.
