A new MOTU 828X-Windows user

Hi All, Greetings!
My 828X is coming next Monday, so I created my new motunation account to post some user experience (hopefully not troubleshooting).
I know quite well about PC hardware, and currently building a rack mounting Win 8.1 PC with i7 4970 on Z97 Motherboard. ASUS ThunderboltEX II card is in back order (Amazon says 2-4wks), but I'll start using 828X via USB2.0 in the meantime. I know there are some issues of USB2.0 connection, reported in this forum, but information is really scarce. Hopefully I don't have the same problem on Windows 8.1, or figure out workarounds at least. My major interest is the stability of the driver for location recording purposes, and quality of the two mic preamps. If these things fall short with 828X, I may get the new 1248 as well, but currently holding since the Win driver isn't ready.
Anyway, I'm excited to get this new gear!
