can anyone offer me any assistance?
i keep getting to the point of "Add Remove hardware" and then the Auto setup tells me my mtp av is not responding, keeps asking me to change the mac/pc button + try again..
Its connected via the Parallel Cable.. Ive tried the LPT1 set to EPP, and now Bi-Directional.. Still nothing..
could i have a bad cable? i doubt it...
i wish i could RTFM but i dont have the actual manual for this model only the USB version which says nothing about the parallel connection to a pc.. Im feeling very frustrated i bought this for about 90$ off ebay and its been sitting here for months, im finally at the position where ive got this awesome win98se box set up + everything else is workign amazing.. cubase.. Ableton.. + i just need this to work.. can please someone just help me get this to work?? why wont it see my MTP AV?

in my bios, the settings for the comport are:

-bidirectional
-ecp
-epp

but epp has sub options, allowing to choose epp v1.7 or epp v1.9
the bidirectional setting has no sub options.

ok ive actually got the ports showing up now under WINXP...
(the machine has two hard drives installed.. i have been switching between the two by powering on/off and switching the molex power to the appropriate drive...)

i think putting it on EPP and selecting v1.7 was what i needed to do to make it work..

im still having some dificulty however as my ableton live v4 app restarted
when activating all of the MIDI out ports..

ive created a simple MIDI clip of say 1 bar length and ive got it looping over and over but eventually something happens and the MIDI data gets all messed up. if i simply stop the playback of the MIDI clip and restart it, it begins to work properly again so im not sure if the problem is in the interface itself, or the software. Im just glad to actually have the software triggering notes over the MTP and into my jv880 which im using to test.
8)

now to reboot back to win98se and continue testing there... hopefully i will have no problems and the root of my problems was the epp v1.7 bios setting
