v8 ..no "save as" version 7 DP file

Post by Topo »

The chap that is going to help with one of my projects, works in DP 7.24. I'm at that version, too, but would like to upgrade to 8. He tells me that I would have to save my project as a version 7, in order to be compatible.

I grabbed the v8 demo and tried a test to save as a v7, but that doesn't appear in the list of options. It ends at v6.0

I tested a v8 project and it opened fine in 7.24. Is there something I'm missing, or is a v8 project totally compatible in 7? Logically, I would have expected to see a "save as" version 7 option if it was necessary.

Weird as it may seem, I'm thinking that the DP7 file format is the same as DP8. DP 7.24 can open DP 8.06 projects. Seems crazy, I know. I too was looking for a "Save as 7.0" option from DP8 and there is none. I can only assume that's because there's no need for it.
