midnam issue with DP

Post by csadler »

I'm having an issue specifically with my Waldorf Q.midnam file.

The one that MOTU supplies is missing a whole bank, since the Micro Q+ there was an additional bank added (and the update is free, if you have a micro q go find it.) This bank is selectable with #32 at 3. What I did so far is copy the contents of the xml tags for a <PatchBank> tag and just edited the contents in " " with my text editer, Coda 2. I basically changed the name of the PatchBank to Bank D, and then changed the <ControlChange> to Control="32" Value="3" and left the control="00" alone since the Micro Q doesn't use it really at all (it just ignores the signal, I think it accepts it so that it's compliant to a standard) So I save the file, open up DP, the bank is there all the data has changed, but- when I select a patchname from Bank D, Waldorf goes to Bank C.

I figure I'm missing something somewhere, like DP is told what information to send to Waldorf, and since there is no <controlchange> command for Value="3" it just picks it's highest value. But- I can't find anywhere where I can tell DP what to send to Waldorf for that controlchange value. :( Any help would be appreciated. What I would really love is some documentation on the .midnam/.middev specification!

Do you have an older Mac somewhere that can run Snow Leopard or earlier? If so, you might want to check out CherryPicker and see if you can do something using that.
