I'm a complete novice at using the movie function in DP.

I have a specific movie clip that I need to align with with the time of my sequence.
The video was recorded to a track that I sent to the client.
The timing is identical, but the video recording starts way before the track audio comes in.
There is no time code.
I just need to line up the audio on the video to my sequence audio.

Is there a way to slip and slide the video timing?
I've read all of the DP Manual stuff and found the Set Movie Start Time window.
I've tried inputing numbers here, but would prefer some graphical way of sliding the movie to fit.

Then you'd have to do that in another app. DP does not do video.

QT7 Pro was nice for this (I don't know if it's still available). Or if it's just for something as simple as that, you could even use what you already have, like iMovie. You can definitely make the cuts there if you don't want to deal with DP's Set Movie Start Time.

You're not sliding the Movie to fit the music in DP. You're making the sequence, the music, fit the Movie.

Here's what I do if I get a movie with no burn in and need to find the movie start time (I assume there' some pre roll):
- make sure you are working at the same frame rate (and audio sample rate) as the film editor!!! Call if you're not sure.
-set Movie Start Time to 01-00-00-00 and 0 subframes
-manually scroll to the first frame of picture and note the time code. Again if you are not sure, call the editor.
-subtract that time code from 01-00-00-00 either manually or using an app like Timecode Calculator
-set the Movie Start Time to the result
-set Chunk Start to where your cue actually starts in frames.

An easy example: You've set the movie start as I suggest above and scroll to the first frame of picture and that is 01-00-02-00. You would re set the Movie start Time to 0-59-58-00. If your music starts at 1-00-24-00, set the Chunk Start to 1-00-24-00

Frank is correct. No need to edit the movie. Another quick and dirty way to do this is to drop your audio file I to the sequence and drag it to the location. But starting and stopping multiple chunks at different times in a film is how you build cues in a multi cue project in DP.
