sm57 is not so good option. There is not pop fiter.
Better choice is sm58 or AKG D880

If you're looking for a good quality, yet affordable, vocal microphone for home recording... I think it's hard to beat the Audio Technica AT3035 seen here:
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AT3035/
This microphone has a full, natural sound, is very quiet, built well, and affordable. This is a condenser, much smoother than a dynamic microphone such as an SM57/58 or an AKG D880

Maybe you have to check the Studio Projects TB1. I‘m tracking the voice and acoustic guitars whit this model and the relation between price and quality is incredible. I have to mention that I‘m using a very cheap pre amp ( Art Tube MP )connected to this microphone. Maybe you will hear some kind of discusting frecuencies at the middle high but you can correct this ones whit some eq plug in.

I like Blue Microphones "Ball". Pretty good on vocals and great on kick drum.

I second the AT3035. I recommended that for a friend's home studio & I was quite surprised by it's performance. If I didn't already have 3 AT4050s I would have grabbed a couple for myself.

For the money I guess the AT3035 is pretty good. I have one. But, depending on what you need, don't sneeze at the SM57. That's arguably (and pretty inarguably) any studio's most reliable workhorse. Standard on snares and guitar cabinets. And SOME singers respond best to it, or it's close cousin the 58.

Don't forget the Studio Projects C1. I'm surprised no one else mentioned it ... it's all over other BB sites like this.
check it out here

Audio Technica Mic's make the most profit for the Sales Team. I know because the AT rep told me when I was selling them. That's why Sales people push them so hard, I will NEVER buy one, but that's just me.

THE AT4040 is a nice mic. They sell for $299.00 everywhere
MusiciansFriend.com
Sweetwater.com
zzsounds.com
BUT IF YOUR SMART there is a guy in Chicago selling them for $199.00 on ebay. Brand New!
The AT4040 is a good all around mic if you don't have the money for multiple mics.
"take it for what its worth"

For a brite sound the Studio Projects C1 kills. But why record in the bathroom? Then you're stuck with the room sound, which may not work with the track. Unless you just came back from Mexico, in which case the bathroom would probably be the best location for vocal recording, or any recording.
