Motu 828 sounds different on several recording - same track
Here is a case I have difficulties to solve:
My problem is when i record a sound of my mixer on my motu original 828, whether audacity or live (windows xp), average one in ten (same track each time of course), the sound will sound clear and precise, the nine other times the sound sounds duller and less accurate (clearly audible on a snare): Where could come this problem?
I already did some research but found nothing on Motunation about it.
Is it a problem of stability MOTU on pc? or due to the problem of texas instrument chipset I do not own? Or something else?
Thank you in advance for your advice!

Check routing of signal for doubled path; may be two sources somehow slightly out of phase and causing partial phase cancellation

Read the manuals and learn how to use the device and your software is my recommendation. There are many variables. I don't have the time to try and figure it out for you, sorry.

Hello my friend. Naturally, drivers and chipsets do not have a 'sound.' That's not a good place to start looking from a troubleshooting perspective. If your drivers or chipset was bad, it wouldn't work ever! You're barking up the wrong tree. Unless something is dramatically wrong/different in the sound, if you hear something it's usually something you're doing before it hits the interface (ie pilot error), or it's something you're 'hearing' that isn't really there.nickmorisson wrote:But what? You can do a null test against two tracks by lining them up together and flipping the polarity on one of them. If you hear a difference between two sounds, and they null to nothing, then you're just hearing things. Happens to the best of them. Hardly anyone can pass a double-blind listening test of even CD vs mp3, despite how special a snowflake each of us is.
