Very Weird MIDI Issue! One Note not playing???

Every note plays on my MIDI controller except for F#2. It doesn't matter what soft synth I"m triggering, that f#2 doesn't sound. So, I swapped out my keyboard with a brand new keyboard (brand new Roland A88), same note still doesn't play. I then tried a third keyboard...same thing. When I hit record the F#2 doesn't record either.

A few other troubleshooting tests - if I open up the MIDI KEYS within DP all notes sound when I click on the keys EXCEPT for F#2. FInally, when I open my MIDI Monitor and hit the F#2, the MIDI light does blink (nothing sounds).

My next test was to hook my keyboard up to my macbook air and run DP8. All notes played fine. Then...I went back to my main mac pro DP and hooked my keyboard up again, but this time I opened DP 7.22. Every note played fine. Worked perfectly. This means there is something happening within DP 8.05 that is causing my one note not to sound? My final test- I changed the octave on my MIDI controller (up 1 octave) to see if the same note didn't play. When transposed up an octave, the F#2 played fine, but the F#3 now did not play.

Something that is also very strange.... When I open the INPUT FILTER or EVENT CHASING from the SETUP menu, F#2 plays fine. BUT only when either of those windows are open. Once I close it, the note won't play. Of course you can't work with either of those windoww open.... Weird.

Anyone have any clue how to tweak DP regarding single MIDI notes? I've restarted, ran the disk utility, etc...

Thanks for your help!

Check that you haven't enabled transport control via MIDI notes. Look in the Commands Window. That's rather higher range to be assigned as a control, but it might have happened.

Thanks James...

I think you're on to something. Recently I imported a bunch of DP commands bc I took over someone's Touch OSC template.

So, I went to COMMANDS and typed in transport control but nothing came up. When I type in just transport , 3 things come up:
transport master
toggle transport link
lock movie to transport.

None of them have any key commands associated with them.

So...I imported my old Key bindings/commands, and all my notes play fine! There is something in the new key commands that I imported that is causing this one note not to play.

Any idea where or what that would be?

Thanks

Thanks James...fixed it! There was a command with a MIDI event using that F#2. I deleted it and now all is well.

Thanks!

I've just added both problems to the DP Tips Sheet. These two problems now occupy the #1 spot at the beginning of the tips, Tips Sheet Part 1. If you find it lacking in some way, please let me know. Now, when those problems appear in the forum, you may answer them directly or refer them to the Tips Sheet.

This took considerable doing, btw. The first part was already at its maximum length, so I had to move tips from Part 1 to Part 2. I don't think this should cause any problems, but I'm having to update all my backup files to reflect the changes.

I should have done this a long time ago. Needless to say, there are dozens of other tips waiting to go into the sheet, and there are probably some that are out of date. All tips appear on Page 1 of the Tips Sheet thread, so it's easy to search for them by category, window, name, or other keywords that might appear in what you are looking for. I'm always open to suggestions; after all, the Tips Sheet was built on YOUR posts.

This just happened to me, and I did a web-search only AFTER troubleshooting for 20-plus minutes.

Thank you James Steele!
