Hi there,
I've set up a multitimbral VI, and I'd like to have a "summing" MIDI track, while keeping discrete MIDI inputs to the different instruments in the multitimbral, rather than linking all the instruments in the VI to, let's say MIDI channel 1. I'd like that for the purpose of sketching rapidly while listening how all the tracks in the VI sound together, but I'd also like later to be able to edit more accurately the parameters on the different MIDI tracks, without having to reroute all the instruments in the VI to separate MIDI channel in separate MIDI tracks.
In other words, something similar to the MIDI input in the MIDI "summing stack" in Logic Pro X.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Let me try to understand what you are saying. You want a MIDI track that takes all existing MIDI tracks and plays them back as if they were one? That is, it all goes through one output, which may be set to something like piano, which is good for playing generic polyphony. Then flip a switch and it's back to your original orchestration.

Is that an accurate characterization of what you are asking for?

(and I don't know a way offhand to do that, though I won't say it's not possible until I try it)

This seems to be served by using a device group. See the manual on how to set up.

If I'm understanding you, you would mute all of the tracks you do not wish to hear in the VI itself

@Shooshie: thanks a lot for your answer, more that a "piano reduction" on the output I was looking for some multiple input for all the tracks, while keeping the sounds. But I would love to know how to do what you described, I find it really useful to "proofread" the voicings without being "tricked" by the samples, and then switch back to the original orchestration!

@frankf: thanks a lot for your answer, I think's that's exactly what I needed, I'm not familiar with the MIDI devices, so I'll put myself to work on the manual!
