okay I confess I'm being lazy, would you guys tell me besides updating to DP8 & upgrading my Ivory what other updates (from the stuff in my signature) I'll need to buy? I think I'm going to lose Ethno due to it being 32 bit, right? Thanks in advance.

Well, you can either run DP8 in 32-bit mode when you need it for those plugs; OR you can run some things in standalone mode (if they offer that); OR you can host them in some external process. We were mentioning Plogue Bidule ($99), 32-Lives ($99?), Mainstage 2 if you have it (it appears the App Store now only offers MS3, which is 64-bit only).

There are threads about how to move audio & MIDI between DP and other apps. But you might be too lazy to look those up.

Ethno is 64-bit. MX4 isn't.

Mavericks is horrible for me. But that might just be an isolated case.

Mavericks is great here! Also a prerequisite for the app I use most, FCPX.

Not using DP much these days, but mavericks & DP8 performed flawlessly running the backing tracks on a couple of live shows at the end of last year.

I do have main stage 2 - does it work in Mavericks?

FCPX 10.1 and a new mac pro is what's pushing me into mavericks, I have an older system for audio/music work but I'd like to use the new mac for audio & music & it's mavericks only.

I'm using the original Ethno - they never updated that did they?

Thank you for the help!

I had originally trashed MainStage 2 when I updated to MS3, but luckily, the App Store allowed me to re-install it.

In the downloads section (inside MS2) it looked like I needed to re-download all the content. However, there was an option not to download anything that was already available. After checking that, it didn't download anything. (I.e., it was able to share all the content with MS3).

I launched MS2 and everything seemed to work just fine in Mavericks. I didn't really test it very extensively, but it was all as it should be.

I run DP 8 64bit and keep DP 7.24 for those old projects that still need 32bit plugs (almost none anymore).

I expect that, by the end of the year, I will no longer need 7.24 but, till then, it works nicely alongside of 8.

I read on Facebook this morning that a client is going to contact me to master a CD from a concert I recorded for him in DP 2.71. I still have the files and if 8 doesn't open them easily, I do have 7 and 5. Maybe this time I don't have to deliver it in mono - long story but I had to sum the right and left channels of an M/S recording to eliminate the fireworks show outside the church where it was recorded. I have a feeling that, with RX 3, I can eliminate the explosions and finally deliver it in stereo. A lot has happened in 16 years.

I have a duel boot system.. for snow leopard and Maverick and I find that there's lots of plugins that just wont work in Maverick and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with if they are 32 or 64 bit.. other then the fact that if they are 64-bit they were probably made so more recently and there for have a higher probability of working

I have been very happy with Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and DP 8.04. Extremely stable. Waiting until the tails of woe with Mavericks cease before I dip my undertow in those shark infested waters and declare "Surf's Up!"

I left a few plugs behind but upgraded Waves, Altiverb and AutoTune. Still trying to decide if I can live without B4 in this luscious 64-bit world. I haven't missed Inflator.
