DP 8.05. So QuickScribe is insisting on displaying hard-quantized sixteenth note rhythms as triplets, and I'd like to figure out a way to twist its arm and make it stop, if possible.
For example, in Bar 1 this piece has a dotted eighth followed by a sixteenth note tied to a half note. QuickScribe displays it correctly in Bar 1. The exact same rhythm occurs in Bar 19, but there QS insists on displaying it as a triplet quarter note followed by a triplet half note. Completely wrong!
So far I've tried the following:
- Hard quantizing (100%) Bar 19 to sixteenth notes. Nope - QS still shows triplets
- Copying and pasting Bar 1 to Bar 19. Nope - QS still shows bar 19 as triplets
- "Change selected notes to manual duration". Nope.
- Selecting the offending triplets and Command/Ctrl clicking a dotted eighth note in the QS tool palette. NOPE.
I know QS is not a full notation editor, but it should get basic rhythms right. Is this something I can fix, or is a bug and I should just give up (with my apologies to the session players)? I suspect this is the QS editor trying to be "helpful", but how do I say "No thanks!" to its "help"?
Thanks, everyone.
Force QuickScribe to cut it out with the triplets?

Re: Force QuickScribe to cut it out with the triplets?
I rarely have trouble with DP displaying rhythms incorrectly. But when it does happen, it is the kind of thing you are describing. Sometimes I can trick it into displaying it correctly, but it usually involves messing around with things until it switches it. There are times when it is related to "other voices" i.e. if a note duration is a little too long and causes some weird interpretation. But it sounds like in your case it is just some weakness in the algorithm that makes it interpret incorrectly.
You've quantized both note-ons and releases? And you've inspected the track to make sure all is right?
Perhaps you could try copying the sequence and making a version where the time signature is 8/8 or 16/16? I'm just grabbing at straws. I know how frustrating this is!!!

Probably not helpful but what time signature is the piece in?

If you want to try another approach, you can export as a Standard MIDI file and open it in whatever notation software you might have. Muse Score is free (open source), might be worth a try. Probably would be trading one set of challenges for another set.
