MenuMeters 1.6.1 and Mavericks issue?

I was having a problem where even though the option to open all windows last open was unchecked when I restarted, they would open anyway. Turns out removing MenuMeters 1.6.1 made it start behaving as it should. Some sort of conflict going on. I wrote the programmer about it. Passing it along in case it helps someone.

Yeah... one of those really weird, quirky conflicts I'd have never have suspected until I discovered it by
sheer, dumb luck! I wrote the developer.
It reminds me too, that before we bash beta testers, sometimes the ONLY way conflicts will make themselves known is when an app is WIDELY distributed, increasing the odds that someone will find a problem by ACCIDENT. Too many variables.

The ones I've talked to say it's not all its cracked up to be. You have to be willing to be a guinea pig.

Well MenuMeters guy wrote me back and doesn't think it's possible that it could be causing this. I'm going to have to reinstall, uninstall, and mess with it a bit. I need to ask him if he's on Mavericks. He may not be.

That would be my "instinctive" answer but the real answer is so high above my pay grade. If removing one app fixes the problem then there is a conflict there somewhere - at least logic would seem to implicate the removed app.

Hello forum,
I've had MenuMeters on my system since SL, ML and Maveriks since it came out and never experienced what you're describing, James.
I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that, I did a clean install, maybe?

Good to know... thanks for the info. I'll have to look into it some more. Somehow it affected me that way. Weird.
I added a question mark to be subject title of this thread just to be fair.

Console is your friend here. Open it and observe the normal shut down and restart. What exactly goes on isn't important as long as things behave. You want to see 'normal' for your setup.
Menu Meters may have a conflict with something else. If you have the time to play with it, reinstall and the problem comes back, open Console again and see if something else is going on. I'd first look for something trying to load on shut down or processes in Menu Meters failing to execute on shut down.
Sometimes, Console will show processes failing that you thought were long gone from your system. I found an unused HP printer app from 2005 failing to load on my wife's Mac recently. Being PPC, it will neither load (nor work if it did) but her Mac starts up faster now that I found the .kext files and removed them. On my system, I found AutoTune 4 trying to load - searching, I found a library in a hidden folder and removed it.
