MachFive 3.2.1 update available

A UVI support person alerted me that today a MachFive 3.2.1 update was made available on the MOTU website. It clears a problem I had experienced using a recently purchased UVI World Traditions sample collection. It would not load in MachFive, getting the alert "Unable to mount the Volume from '[my file path]/World Traditions.ufs' (No valid authorization found)". After the update I can load the collection without a problem.
Comparing the PDF documentation from MOTU for this update with that for 3.2.0, the text in "Enhancements in 3.2.1" is identical to that section titled "Enhancements in 3.2.0" in the earlier PDF, so perhaps this was the only issue resolved by this update.

Thanks for the heads up. There's a Read Me file with the Installer:

Isn't that the same list of enhancements they issued for 3.2?

Yep, so perhaps this was the only issue resolved by this update.

I think MOTU historically folds release notes for primary updates into secondary updates so that people see the full consolidated list -- especially if the updates are close together and many people might not have performed the earlier update.
I didn't know about this one, and just opened MachFive in standalone mode a few minutes ago only to get reminded about this bug.
Edit: I just did the update, and it didn't get rid of those four startup errors on sound banks not found. I dismiss the errors each time and they ARE present and found, so it's nothing more than an annoyance since the program works fine both in standalone mode and as a plug-in.

I re-downloaded and installed the UVI soundbanks and those errors went away. Although the version number was the same, the build date was later than what I had installed with MV3. Anyway, that worked for me.

Oh, thanks; I didn't realize the sound banks had also updated, due to the unmodified version/date info. I may not have time to do that before heading for the Amtrak station, so maybe I'll take care of that next week when I get back from L.A., along with installing the Ravenscroft Piano which should be released tomorrow (I bought it yesterday on the early pre-release discount).

It will be interesting to see if it works for you also. I thought it weird that they hadn't changed the version number, just the build date - and it worked.

Actually, I misspoke, as it was the MachFive v2 banks that started giving me errors every time I launch, and that is still the case after re-downloading and re-installing the MacFive v3 banks. And the v2 banks work and can be loaded; they just "aren't found" at startup for some reason.
Sorry I can't be more explicit, but MachFive doesn't support drag/drop cut/paste of text and it's too difficult to keep switching foreground windows while trying to type in a long alphanumeric string.

It's a PITA but once you get the v2 banks loadable, you might want to start saving "as" v3 format. At least the ones you use a lot.

Ah, thanks, I didn't realize they weren't already converted, as I first loaded them with v3.

I don't really use those sounds but keep them around "just in case". In the past, I deleted sample libraries I'd bought because disc space was scarce and expensive. Funny thing is, it's cheap now but in just a few months I've already almost filled up the extra Terrabyte I added!

It goes fast and archive can be an art form in and of itself.

I wonder why I or we don’t get emails from MOTU letting us know of updates?
Glad to hear there is one though, will go get it now.

I once asked that at NAMM - I think we were waiting for DP 5 to ship, whenever that was. As I was on the receiving end of a lecture of how MOTU didn't want to spam their customers, I kept saying, "you just don't get it - that's the email we want".
They email us on new hardware and paid upgrades (like everybody else) but not on incremental updates of software for which we are registered users. They still don't get it.
There's nothing wrong with an email that announces the incremental update, gives us release notes and includes an ad for, say, the 828x or MachFive if you are registered only for DP or what have you... Many companies use a newsletter format combining announcements and advertisements. Something like that could only increase customer loyalty.
I was pleasantly surprised to receive the recent email that gave us links to the demo/training videos from NAMM was a good thing. It included the demo for MachFive 3.2.1. If you didn't get that, I've posted the links in the video and tutorials board:

Maybe they're avoiding having several thousand users all hitting the servers with 1G downloads at the same time, and the support calls and technical issues that generates.
If someone is disconnected enough to not know there is an update within a few days of it's release, MOTU does have an RSS feed where all updates are posted (although, ironically, not MF 3.2.1), usually a week or so, after they are noted here.
