Hey guys, any one know about this. I have a drive that I partitioned in 3 sections. I need to erase one section only to reinstall Maverick. I do not want to erase the whole drive. Can you do that with Disk Utility, thanks

Yes you can. Disk Utility operates on the disk or on a partition on the disk, depending on what you select in the list at the left of the application window. This is all explained in the Help menu for Disk Utility.

As long as there are no problems with the drive i. e. you want to upgrade the OS as you state, you are good to go.

If you are having problems with a drive, Disk Utility will not repair a partition except to run Repair Permissions.
