DP 8/Mavericks graphics anamoly?-WORKED AROUND-

don't know if this has been picked up? it's a "fairly minor, but perhaps important to some" graphics anomaly in DP8.05/Mavericks.
It's in the mixing board "Narrow View". It is that I/O assignments *to busses* will not show up? i.e., assign a fader's output to "bus 1-2" and the audio will *go* to that bus, but the fader Output will show empty. If you change from Narrow View to Standard View, you'll see it, but you'll lose it again if you go back to Narrow View. Applies equally to Input or Outputs. I even shortened "bus 1-2" by a letter to "bs 1-2", but it still doesn't show up.
I tried this in DP 8.05/10.8.5 and it shows up fine, so must be a Mavericks problem?
BTW, I'm not using Consolidated Windows

I wonder if it's graphics card related. It's working fine in both views on my system.

hey Phil - it could be... I'm on an older MacPro (3,1) with an ATI 2600 XT card.
BTW, your sig shows that you're still using SnowLeopard & Mt. Lion, is that correct? Cause I'm only getting the "anamoly" when I'm running Mavericks?

I'm actually using Maverics on my 8 core 3.1. Graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 2600. I just haven't updated my sig yet.

Works OK here on a MBP. I think there was a change in the way OS X handles very small fonts with 10.9, or at least how you can control it. Maybe that along with different graphics hardware is having an effect on how text is displayed in confined spaces.

and the weird thing about it is that it only affects the "bus x-x" text (makes it dissappear, that is). the analogue I/O text ("Ana x-x") shows up just fine, but not the bus text? think I'll drop MOTU a note about it...

Does in happen in other apps you may have with narrow text boxes (the Logic Inspector for example)? Maybe there's a 10.9 bug in the way OS X squeezes text (kerning) in restricted spaces on some Macs.

that could be. unfortunately, I don't have any other apps (handy) to check it on.
I've written a MOTU TechNote and we'll see if they have any thoughts.
As I said at the top, for me it's just a minor inconvenience, but I would think that for someone who's heavy into mixing - - and uses lots of busses, it could be a problem?

***RESOLUTION!!*** (but man, this is weird.....)
As I had noted above, I could not see the text "bus 1-2" in my MixingBoard tracks I/O's in Narrow View, but I *could* see the text "Ana 1-2" ( my analogue Inputs/Outputs).
So I got to thinking....what's the diff. in the text of the two? Aside from the obvious, "bus 1-2" begins with a *small* letter "b" and "Ana 1-2" begins with a *capital* "A".
So I went in to Bundles, and changed "bus 1-2" to "Bus 1-2" and...voila! It popped right up all over the Mixing Board's I/O's, where appropriate!
I think it's definitely a Mavericks thing....

I can replicate that. When I tried earlier I didn't distinguish upper and lower case letters.

hey all, FWIW MOTU TechLinks responded that they are seeing the same thing and are reporting it up to be addressed..
and they went on to say, "just as an FYI I did find that it only affects 2-digit busses. Bus 9-10 or higher is fine, and if you are using mono, bus 100 or later is fine. "
