iTunes with Plugins

I know you can't use plugins with iTunes, but is anyone using some sort of player that has the basic features of iTunes (an easily searchable list of songs and a simple player) that can use plugins? I'd like to be able to apply small pitch corrections, and other minor processing during playback.
As an alternative, is there something that sits in the internal OS X audio playback system that can intercept and process audio using plugins?
